Walking makes for an excellent date idea: the changing scenery and outdoor environment will give you plenty talk about as you get to know one another. Walks with gentle hills can provide beautiful views, while walks next to lakes, rivers and other water features can be a very romantic date idea.
Walking is a great way to escape your busy life and enjoy the beauty of the outside world. The UK has many good walks with its network of footpaths and ancient rights of way. Try to choose walks that are not too challenging – as a date idea the aim is to enjoy yourselves, not push yourselves to exhaustion! When selecting your walks try to plan a loop as you will see different scenery throughout.
A small rucksack or bum-bag is very useful for walking – use it to carry your map, sunblock, camera and some water. When you get back to the car you may be a bit sticky or sweaty, so take a bottle of water and a flannel to wipe yourself down after walking; (I find that a thermos of warm water works well). This will make for a much more comfortable and pleasant drive home!
Be sure to check the weather forecast before you set out and tell someone where you’re going. If you are planning to walk somewhere to watch the sunset (sunrise & sunset times here) remember to take a torch as you will be walking back in the dark.
These links offer many good walks and local walking groups and hiking clubs can be an excellent resource.
